Presenting

Bonding has been coming along in it's own way, one cannot expect the moods of four rabbits to take the straight and narrow. Be present, they advise, and be open to the possibilities. So often being present becomes being closed to options and outcomes other than the "goal". The following series of photos were taken all in one morning (9/16/10) and are shown in chronological order. Although there has been no grooming, except what appeared to be a single lick from Sydney to Harriet, they getting much more comfortable with each other and with sharing territory. I think Tyler would have groomed Harriet if his other GFs weren't there. When he caved in to Amelia it was when Sydney was not present. There have been no more fights, though I had to stop Amelia from charging at one point. She is pretty easy to read; she gets a bit stiff, her neck goes out a bit and her eyes narrow.

Dandelion Breakfast

Harriet presents to Sydney and visa versa.....

Harriet presents to Tyler as he hops in to re-chin everything in her zone,
which used to be his zone......

Amelia always wants somebun to groom her,
she tries Sydney, but with no luck...

Harriet presents to Amelia and is presented back...

Tyler beaming up....

Excerpted from Tyler's report to the Bunnyship:

"We seem to be seeing some progress on the human's part. She is spending more time with us and providing more dandelions (dandelions, dandelions, that succulent fave--the more you eat, the more you crave). Each of us uses a different means of exploring her limits during our sessions with her. I role play using techniques I picked up from The Bunny Lounge's Hef: I treat all the female buns like "girlfriends". Amelia exhibits her acting side using methods taken from De Niro's Raging Bull. Sydney and Harriet mirror each other's behavior; we have found that having their ears so close together amplifies the strength of their signal. As to the opinion that progress has been lacking, we point out that when reviewed in its entirety, our interactions with this human have shown progress: now the four of us gang up on her on a regular basis. More reports forthcoming, depending on the solar flare occurrences."--Tyler

Everyone looked happy at least. Lots of presenting. I can relate to Amelia wanting to be groomed. Just once I would love David to brush my hair. But alas, after the two times he nearly took my ear off because he was watching NASCAR while brushing, well what can I say...wait for sister to visit. hee, hee, hee.
I love these buns d.

I get it all the time here ...
from Arabella every time I walk near by ....
from Wesley ...
every time I go to check on him ..
I'm now practising my own chin down :)

I'm glad to see things have settled down, I keep thinking about the thumb incident. A very thorough report from Captain Kirk Bun. And I did not know until now that there was such a thing as a Buncan Ear Meld.

It's the hay and the doots. I was not serious.

Presenting always reminds me of the respectful bowing in Japanese culture; a friendly greeting, but with some undercurrent of rank establishment at times. Good to see that peacefull co-existence is becoming the trend in the warren.

I also love the re-chinning detail; that is Mickey's way of getting one-up on my son--he chins everything the boy owns that falls within his reach, which in turn earns him the mock-wrath of the boy, who knows what chinning means. It's a highly amusing game to watch. :)

As usual, the Fab Furs have nailed the "other side of the story" .. you are being played for all you are worth!

But what else have you to do than fuss with bunns.

Great progress and no fighting! Wow!

Great progress, there.

Fab Furs--your are really telling it like it truly is, we humans are just too caught up in ourselves to see it.

Never a dull minute with those four. We're watching the progress with great interest. (And keeping our fingers and paws crossed!)

I've missed so much here!

I LOVE that first photo of the four of them :) A glimpse of things to come, I think!

Ah, Tyler. Why would you want to beam up when you have three doting females?

OMG, I have been missing out on something very special going on here I see. I'm not a blogger person (except purely as defense), so I have not followed this amazing tale. Your patience is extraordinary! Your success will taste so sweet.

We need a movie all about bunnies and those they choose to share their lives with. I'm going to work on that.

There was an article in the New York Times back in 2007 that said animal stories were making a comeback. Included in the piece was a picture of a rabbit. I was so hopeful that I included the link to all the agent letters we sent out about our bunny book.

Alas, it was not time. But perhaps soon. What year is the Year of the Rabbit?

d. moll, l.ac. said...

BL-2011 is the year of RABBIT.
C-yup, know what you mean.
J- rabbits are social creature, in general...
RB- R and R???
CGP- yes, it's become quite the community affair, I love it?
FAD- we live for the occasional dull moment.
RG and B-agreed, on all accounts.
J- Boy should chin too.
C-you could have been.
TH-stubborn too.
AFT-yes, chin down, set a good example. :)

RG-I hate to disillusion you but Audrey has been cloned and there are actually quite a few. Of course you are already disillusioned because you've found out that I've been keeping Audrey under wraps......
